Addressing critical national demands such as production environment safety and quality safety of agricultural products, the team focuses on the discipline area of heavy metal pollution control and remediation in farmlands. Their research encompasses pivotal processes of heavy metal contamination and ecotoxicology, as well as remediation and safe utilization of heavy metal-polluted arable land. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the team has taken on nearly 50 major projects, including those under the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation. Over 300 academic papers have been published (more than 180 of which are SCI-indexed articles), including over 100 JCR Q1 zone papers. Four monographs have been published; over 30 patents have been granted, among which 14 are invention patents, with five cases of patent transfer. Five standards have been formulated and promulgated; and five ministerial/provincial level science and technology awards have been granted, including the Special Prize for Natural Science and the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Tianjin Municipality.
