Focusing on significant national needs such as rural revitalization and sustainable development,the team focuses on applied basic research and technical consultancy services regarding sustainable development of agricultural and rural environments, theories of rural environmental assessment and planning, changes in rural land use and landscapes, and systematic planning for regional farmland soil environmental quality protection. Since 2018, the team has undertaken over 10 projects, including projects from the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Key Research and Development Program (Major), United Nations Development Program, high-end think tank projects from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and over a hundred local technology transformation projects; published 50 academic papers (including 22 SCI-indexed papers), four monographs, and acquired 18 software copyrights; received three provincial or ministerial level awards, including the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Tianjin Municipality and the First Prize for Science and Technology in Environmental Protection in Tianjin.
