SESAICN’s project meeting opens in Suzhou

 

On March 26, the 4th working group project meeting of Sino-England Sustainable Agricultural Innovative Collaboration Network(SESAICN) was held in Suzhou.Under SESAICN’s framework, the project of Sino-England sustainable nutrient management of intensified agriculture and water conservation is co-hosted by Dr. RenTianzhi, Director General of Agro-Environmental Protection Institute (AEPI) of CAAS, and Prof. Laurence Smith of School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

 

The project aims to contribute to the prevention and control of non-point source pollution and water protection through research in models as the following: Nutrient loss in typical farming, nutrient flow, nutrient transform and integration, and farming management measures, etc.

 
At the meeting, the working group demonstrated their early research achievement, which has optimized the model parameter and analytical method. As well as that, England experts engaged in technical guidance and training to local officials, extension workers of agriculture technology and farmers, and gave suggestionsto the local sustainable intensified agricultural development.
 
Afterwards, researchers from AEPI, together with experts from SOAS, and Lancaster University, paid working visits in Xiangcheng and Yixing of Jiangsu Province, and offered trainings of the project achievement in this endeavor.
