Education Background

Zhongqi Liu received his BSc degree in Agronomy (1983) from Gansu Agricultural University, his MS in Plant Genetics and Breeding (1986) from Southwest Agricultural University, and his PhD in Plant Genetics and Breeding (1990) from Nanjing Agricultural University, China.

Research Area

He is the head of Heavy Metal Ecotoxicology Innovation Team in CAAS.

He is responsible for studies on food safety production on heavy metal contaminated farmland and biological remediation techniques. Meanwhile, he is carrying out researches on bioethanol production techniques from agriculture residues and biomass with high heavy metal content.

Heavy Metal Ecotoxicology Innovation Team in CAAS

This science and technology innovation team was organized in 2013. Its primary research topics include:

(a) Ecotoxicology of heavy metal cadmium in contaminated farmland

(b) Migration and transport of cadmium in ecosystem of plants and contaminated farmland

(c) Simple methods for identification of low-cadmium accumulation rice lines. It was consist with 3 professors, 4 associated professors and 2 assistant professors.
