Education Background

Yingming Xu, a environmental chemistry scientist by train, received his BSc degree in Analytical Chemistry (1987) from Anhui University, China, his MS degree in Environmental Chemistry(1990) from Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, China and his PhD in Chemistry Engineering(1999) from Tianjin University, China.

Research Area

He was leader of innovation team of remediation of heavy metal contaminated farmland soil, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Head of Pollution Control Center, Key Laboratory of Original Agro-environmental Quality, MOA.

He focuses on the remediation of heavy metal containments in agricultural soils. The current research is in-situ immobilization remediation for heavy metal polluted paddy soils and vegetable field. He established and developed a combined remediation system including chemical immobilization, plant barrier and agricultural methods to ensure the safe production of agricultural products. He also did some researches on environmental functional materials. Ordered thiol-functionalized microporous silica, layered double hydroxide intercalated with diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, mercapto or amine functionalized sepiolite and palygorskite were prepared by different methods, respectively.
